"I believe in the Church of Baseball. I've tried all the major religions, and most of the minor ones. I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I heard that, I gave Jesus a chance. But it just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. I prefer metaphysics to theology. You see, there's no guilt in baseball, and it's never boring... which makes it like sex...I've tried 'em all, I really have, and the only church that truly feeds the soul, day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball."

hello there jessica... i just found your blog looking for ana maria's contact information. she & met through a mutal friend in antigua two summers ago, as i am a grad student at the u of oregon researching orphanages in guate. her address (aackermans@tiscal.nl) isn't working any longer... but if you have her contact info that would be lovely! i am in the midst of hooking up a family w/ a granson who needs to travel to managua, nicaragua for an examination to see if he is a prime candidate for a corneal transplant that would have to be done in the states.. this summer if the exam indicates as such. i was so excited to read your blog & your work w/ ana maria & simone. simone was in belgium when i was in guate, so we never met... & it appears that you met ana maria just a couple weeks after i returned to oregon. :) that said... i hope you get this... i am in hopes of contacting ana today... as the family needs a volunteer escort to nicaragua this weekend. thank you so much for your time and all...
