Some pics from Thanksgiving...good times were had, and good food was consumed. It was a rather long day, but good to see the fam and friends. We actually ended the night quite early this year...I think that everyone had left by 10 or 11pm...kinda ridiculous for us, but good for my mom and me since we didn't get much sleep the night before.

Getting the feast ready.
May and JoJo.

Mmm...turkey.

Let's get fatty.

Smile, people! Yay for the kids table...or should I say...the 30 and under table.

Adults table...in other words, 37 and up.
My sister looks upon you with disdain as she knits...
I miss my girls...granted, this isn't all of us. I can't wait for Christmas!

Last weekend I went to the Healing the Children Auction Benefit in Everett at the Everett Events Center. I didn't know Everett had a facility such as the Events Center (which is quite nice, btw) and I had a great time. A woman named JoAnn was my benefactress (is that even a word?), and as such, I didn't have to pay $60 for my seat at table 16. Sweet...

So you're thinking auction...benefit...boring! But it wasn't. Then again, I knew quite a few people there from the trip, so I was able to chat, catch up, and have a grand 'ol time. I bid on a couple items (which then went out of my price range). Damn you bastards. Though there were a couple items that did not sell (in other words, no one bid on them), there were other items that went far above anyone's expectations in terms of bidding, so I'm pretty sure they raised a fair bit of money for HTC. I ended up donating some money at the end of the night -- after all, I would like to keep my trips to Guate and Honduras (in January?) alive and kicking!

Other than that, I think that I've definitely decided to try and go for the Nurse Practitioner program at SU. Unfortunately, this means more school for me. MUCH more than I thought I was going to be doing, but it's ok. Yeah, the girl who is a complete slacker and said no more school for me! I'm going back to school. Weird, huh?

I'm finally back on a path, as amazing as that is. While it's a bit of new territory for me, it's fairly familiar as well. Remember when I used to want to be a doctor? If not, that was in the first year of college. And now that I'm out of college, I'm heading back towards the medical field. None of this law school business. Although an MBA is still a possibility, I have always loved the medical field, so it's almost like second nature to me.

I don't think that it hurt having Kathy as my roommate constantly telling me how good I was as the unofficial PACU nurse and that one day I was going to be a nurse and being so damn sure of it.

I've got to take 25 undergrad credits (extra) and the GREs before I can apply, so that's a bit unnerving, and I need to decide when to go back to school and complete those credits. As of the moment, I'm thinking Spring qtr...back at the UW. It's the cheapest place to do it and I have so many resources at my fingertips here, it proves to be quite beneficial. Plus there's a possible Orthopedic Surgical team scheduled to go to Honduras in January, so I'd love to be able to participate in that, otherwise I might just start school then.

In movie news, I saw Prime which was good, but fell short of my expectations. I would recommend it, but it wasn't entirely a comedy, nor a dramatic movie. So if you were expecting it to be either way, you had the same expectations as I did.

Jarhead was excellent and I definitely recommend it to anyone. Jake Gyllenhal does a great job, and the supporting cast is amazing.

Saw II was horrible. Too gory, not psychological enough, and it just didn't stand up to the original, which I thought was a good scary movie.

And that's all I've got for meow.
