So not being able to sleep well for the past week or two is taking its toll on me...

I'm sitting at work waiting for someone to come look at the apts and well, I'm about to crash and burn.

I've answered emails, phone calls, shown people around, am waiting for more people to come along, and listening to Maroon 5 trying not to fall asleep. I need to go to bed at like 9pm tonight. But I can't. Final paper for IHL due Wednesday and I need to work on that bad boy.

Yesterday was prolly the most eventful day I've had in...a very long time. Went to bed at like 6am -- don't ask...I think I'm an insomniac. That or a vampire -- without the bloodlust, fangs, and all that jazz. Anyway, my Uncle Bill calls me at 11:45am wondering if I wanna go to Red Robin for lunch. So we go to lunch. Then Nell calls me and asks me if I wanna hang out.

So I say ok, we go to Cafe Ladro on 15th, walk around a bit, then off to Bill's house to get the M's tickets for the game against the Tigers. Drop Nell off at home, go pick up Kairu, head to the game. Dinner in the Diamond Club where we met her mom and dad, then watched the game.

We lost...=(

And there were ridiculously loud and obnoxious people sitting behind us, so that didn't help. This guy behind us was clapping and yelling so loud that my left ear was ringing...it's like the low humming you get after coming out of a really loud club. And then there were these fraternity-esque boys behind the guy who (of course) were drunk and kept yelling at Joe the usher (he's cool) to let them sit in Diamond Club seats...they were refused MULTIPLE times. And they kept yelling at the Tigers' players...I think Pudge and Monroe wanted to kick their asses.

I for one, wouldn't have blamed them. ;)

Went home after the game, then called Sean and Erin (who'd called me during the game) to see if they still wanted to go bowling. Mais naturellement, mon ami (or frère, if you're Sean)...so we called up Derek to see if he wanted to go. And he did...but Ben adn Jared didn't. So we went to Sunset in Ballard and bowled 3 games.

We need to go bowling more often!! =D

Home, didn't get to bed til 6am (again) and now I'm at work. And the rest of the time from when I get off work til Tuesday night/Wednesday morning is going to be spent kicking this damn paper's ass. Well, as best I can, I suppose.

Might go to Chicago to visit Nell this summer, but not too sure about that yet. We'll see what happens...

Countdown to Summer: 13 days.

Hehehe...look at Izzy...what a ladies' man!! ;)

Well, I've got a 12 page research paper due next Wednesday and what have I been doing? Goofing off and not doing what I'm supposed to be doing (the paper, that is).

Construction has started once again on the house (it was on hiatus for about a week or 2) and I woke up to those lovely sounds at like 6am. WONDERFUL.

Went to dinner at Piatti in the Village tonight with Kairu -- I don't recommend the rigatoni bolgonese. Not a whole lotta flavor going on there. But the smoked salmon pizza's pretty good. As is the caeser salad and pear tartlet with vanilla gelato...mmm...tasty...

Walked around Williams-Sonoma and Ravenna Gardens for a bit, then she went home, and I went to pick up Nell for some chai/hot chocolate at that new place on 45th -- starts with a T___(somebody fill in the blank)___ Chai. Oh wait...I think it's Tabarca Chai. Anyway, I had the bourbon vanilla chai (yummy) and Nell had a Mexican hot chocolate, which was quite good. So I recommend the place...lotsa different flavors of chai, too.

Sat around and talked for a bit and then decided that we wanted to watch a movie. So we went and saw Shrek 2 which was hilarious and I loved it. Did you know that PP11 has upped the prices by $0.50?! Bah. And gas is so damn expensive right now...BAH.

Anyway, drove around for a bit and talked some more, which was good. So it seems my social life is picking up a tad...a tad...slowly but surely...;)

Apparently Kairu got me a Le Creuset for my birthday!! How awesome is that?! I'm so happy...hehehe...

Housesitting for Al & Roni again, so I'll be there for about a week or so, unless Julie (other cousin) decides to take over...or we both decide to stay there...I'm down for anything. Oh, and I'm getting drunk (maybe) on June 27th, so if people are interested in tagging along, gimme a call. ;)

Have a good night! *muah*

Wish ya woulda stayed in Seattle, Randy!

|

Perfect Game...WOW.

|

Well...turns out my dad got an MRI and the results are fine -- nothing strange going on there. But he still can't travel for at least 3 months (doctor's orders...) so he prolly won't be going to Hong Kong for his HK ID til November or so. Why get a HK ID? Makes it easier to travel back and forth to HK and China...

And he's torn his Achilles -- either partially or totally, doc's still not quite sure yet. So there's a bit of pain and slow walkin' there.

Went to the M's game tonight...sigh...

Another loss under our belts, but I'm still hoping for .500 AND we haven't hit the All-Star Break yet...so I'm still a bit optimistic...a bit...=P

Wonderful seats provided by my uncle (as always), and he got Martin Selig's 2 tix for tonight, so my dad and uncle sat there while JoJo, my aunt, Josh, and I sat in the regular seats. Got to sit in the front row for the last 1 and 1/2 innings though! God those seats are amazing...

Randy Johnson pitched a freakin' PERFECT GAME. AMAZING!!!! The oldest guy to have a perfect game, and it's his 2nd no hitter! 13 K's, the 17th guy to pitch a perfect game. The man is fantabulous. Too bad he left Seattle...we need a bullpen right now. And some bats. It's sad when your catcher is .319 and leading the batting avg for the team...

Anyway, that's about it. Have a good night and good luck with the impending doom of finals and papers, everyone! *muah*

Well I had quite a scare Friday.

Waiting for my dad to come home from work, I get a call at home around 5:30pm and it's my dad saying that he's at work, fainted, fallen, and is being taken to the Everett Providence Pacific Campus ER.

Awesome.

So I'm kinda freakin' out, tell my mom, and she calls his cell. He says not to worry, that he's ok and we don't need to go to the hospital. Then calls back a little bit later as he's being taken in the ambulance that maybe we should come up. So I was calmer before, but now I'm more worried because if he's asking for us to go, there must be something wrong.

Scary.

So my mom drives up to Everett in the latter stage of rush hour, and I cook dinner. Lotsa calls going back and forth between various family members to see what's going on, and since I myself have no idea...yeah.

Thankfully nothing serious was wrong. He's got a bump on his head, one on his right elbow, a contusion on the right shoulder, and a sprained ankle. But other than that, he's fine. EKG and blood came back fine. So no one really knows what happened.

At least he was at the foot of the stairs and still inside the factory (at Boeing) when he collapsed, cuz if he was driving or in the car...coulda been bad. And he was conscious the whole time (may or may not have blacked out briefly at one point) so that's a good sign.

Whew.

So now he might get a CT scan, an MRI, or something depending on what our doc says.

Proved to be exciting, I suppose...

Yesterday had a big family dinner at Jade Garden (in Chinatown) to celebrate my great-grandma's 91st birthday. Holy crap she's 91...damn. And she's still doing pretty well too! Amazing.

Work hasn't been ridiculously exciting, but hey...I meet new people everyday! =P

I need to get cracking on this research paper for IHL that's due on the 26th (last day of class!) and the other research paper due for HMJ on the 3rd! Then no more school for me! (Well, until the next school year, that is).

Lol...look what I came across as I was cleaning out my inbox:

What's Your Sexual Identity?

-J-
You can be very romantic, attached to the glamour of love. Having a partner is of paramount importance to you. You are free in your expression of love and are willing to take chances, try new sexual experiences and partners, provided it's all in good taste. Brains turn you on. You must feel that your partner is intellectually stimulating, otherwise you will find it difficult to sustain the relationship. You require loving, cuddling, wining, and dining to know that you're being appreciated.

hehehe...anyway, I better get back to work now...gotta call a bunch of sororities, and finish some stuff up at work. Take care all! *muah*

Wednesday, May 12, 2004

Well hello. It's been quite awhile since I last posted (well, it's been a week).

Anyway...new template, as you can see, and I'm working on posting more pics (esp those from Guatemala -- yeah, I know, it's been like 8 months...), plus I'm still tweaking the template a bit more to my liking, but it's looking pretty good so far, I'd say!

Wow, so let's see what's happened so far...I can just imagine some old white guy doing a voiceover of "Previously, on the Days of the One Life of the Bold and the General Passions of Jessica..." hehehe...on with the blog!

Oh, so my Isreali Security Fence group had our presentation/discussion/rebuttle/question and answer presentation and I think that it went pretty well. It's a very difficult, complex topic to cover, and Kaaren did a wonderful job presenting our side and answering questions. Go team! Other than that, nothing particularly wonderful happened school-wise (or social life-wise either).

Pretty much been chillin' at home, trying to relax and not stress about impending dooms such as graduation, classes, school, living situations, etc. Hanging out with the family is good and relaxing, comfortable (most of the time, anyway), and normal, so it makes life a little less complicated, hectic, and stressful. Always a good thing.

The highlight of my week was the Mariner's game on Sunday vs. the Yankees...(yes, it was on Mother's Day) where I got a free pink visor and got to watch the game from the Diamond Club with my dad, brother, and uncle. It would have been such a wonderful game were it not for the bullpen sucking it up. They've been doing that WAAAAAAY too often for my liking. Work on the control, people! And stop putting Shiggy in. He's becoming another Bobby Ayala! I got a bit sunburnt at the game, which I was totally not expecting, seeing as how the weather forecast said it would be in the low 60s...so I ended up wearing a 3/4 sleeve shirt (blue, and yes it clashed with the visor, but dude...it was free and I really could care less). So we sat down and man, did it get hot! I got burnt on my right arm up to where the sleeve was and on the right side of my chest that was exposed (no, I didn't expose myself, I mean where the scoop of the neckline is...dirty birds). I guess the visor shielded the left side of my body or something...oh well. I would say that my body is comprised of about 10 different shades...let's see if I can get it up to 15. Or 20 by the end of the summer if I'm lucky...

Man, as much as I may bitch and moan about the Yankees and well, Steinbrenner is a pompous ass...they are a damn good team this year. It's pretty much history in the making. But as much as they may have the bats and good people...they aren't doing as well as they (and others) expected to, and for that, I am very grateful and happy. Although we haven't even hit the All-Star break yet, so that might change...but I'm hoping that the Red Sox prevail and kick their asses this year. We'll just have to wait and see what happens with that one.

Unfortunately we've been losing games left and right so far this season, but hey...I'm no fair-weather fan! I've been an M's fan since I was a baby and I'll be one til the day I die. Win or lose (as we are doing this season...) they'll always be my team!

Alright, enough about that. I bought my mom an all-in-one coffee maker from The Bon that she's been eyeing since Christmas. After the game we went to Bill and Agnes' house for dinner where my grandpa made shark fin soup and my aunt made abalone. I cooked some shrimp with ketchup (don't knock it til you try it), my mom made these black pepper short ribs, and we had some other food...and since they're getting a new maid this week, us kids helped clean up and whatnot. I think we had like 21 people and about 4 generations in one house. My great-grandma was there, my grandpa, my dad, and me...so yes, that's 4 generations. Woulda had 5 if Alex or Sydney were there, but Alex is in VA with his mom and dad, and I don't know where Sydney was.

Can't complain about work so far...it's been pretty good. Apparently they're making a box of business cards for me that say assistant manager on them...scary. That just means added responsibility and since when did a near 21-year-old get business cards?! At least, this doesn't really happen in my world...but it is now. Damn the responsibilities just keep mounting, don't they?

Aimee (and the rest of Gonzaga) is done with school so she came back on Monday and most of the old HNA contigent that's still in Seattle got together today before she leaves tomorrow morning to return to Spokompton where she's got a summer job. Went out to Cheesecake Factory with Karina, Marlon, Cindy, Jason, Emily, and Patrick. It was definately good times and we laughed so much it was great. We need to get together more often. One of the best moments of the night was when we were getting out of the elevator walking to Pacific Place and Pat pulled a latex glove from his pocket, at which point Aimee, Emily, and I were just like...oh dear God, what is that?! He had it because he was serving food at the Bite of Asia thing today at the HUB. But damn we were initially quite weirded out by that! And then he tried sticking it in my back pocket as we were walking to the car! Ahh!!! Emily ended up putting it on and just cracked us up.

Oh yes, Patrick was voted President of FASA last week at Filipino Night (for next year) so CONGRATS, PAT!!! YAY!

And now, since I'm not 21, people had lotsa school-related things to do such as tests, quizzes, and papers, Cheesecake and dropping people off ended the night. And now I'm at my aunt's house working on my blog since I have to wait for my other aunt to be done playing mah-jong so I can take her home. And with that, I bid you all a wonderful night. Take care everyone!

Hello hello...

Thank God for being done with my Israeli History paper for IHL. I did the historical background of Israel for our debate (which takes place tomorrow in class) about the Israeli Security Fence and man...there was an ass-load of information!! I'm a bit nervous about the debate tomorrow because there are going to be people from the Middle East Dept there to watch us...ok, so I'm more than nervous...I'm a bit scared...So I'm going to be researching my stance a bit more so I know what I'm talking about. Although it's a difficult position to take seeing as how Israel's violated a bunch of Geneva Conventions and whatnot...oh well. My group shall prevail! *maybe* =P

Well, the boys in Europe (those Webbs and Trent) seem to be having a wonderful time, taking in the culture, and hey! They're even going to museums and enjoying the art! Trent in particular...that's definately a good thing. Candace is having a wonderful time and so is Tida!! The Internet is wonderful in that it allows me to keep in touch with people that are halfway around the world! Sunny's doing well in Ecuador too, and we all know that she (of all people) is having a fantabulous time! ;)

Made my first trip to Best Buy tonight since...oh, I'd say somewhere around Christmas of last year...sad, huh? Not really, but man have I missed out on buying some movies! So I got a lot tonight...to make up for my lack of spending before, of course! Besides, these are movies I've wanted for a long time. Well, some not so long, but others, yes, a long time. I got Kill Bill Vol. 1 (haven't seen it yet -- sad, huh?), The Soong Sisters (never heard of it, but my mom wanted to get it, so we did), Alice in Wonderland (wonderful Disney classic, so how could you not get it?), Emma (I love Jane Austen, I love Jane Austen movies, and I love Jeremy Northam), Sense and Sensibility (same with the Jane Austen thing...well, minus Jeremy Northam since he's not in this one, but Greg Wise is awfully hot...and I love Hugh Grant - though he's not so hot in this one - and Alan Rickman...sigh...), The Triplets of Belleville (haven't seen but wanted to and I've heard wonderful things about it...besides, it was nominated for 2 Oscars and has a kick ass theme song!), Big Fish (good movie and my mom hasn't seen it yet, and I know she'll enjoy it), Love Actually (I love romantic comedies, it's got an all-British cast -- in particular very handsome men such as COLIN FIRTH - Mr. Darcy himself - and Hugh Grant looks particularly hot in this one), and we got a wireless mouse for the new laptop. It's cute. And awfully fast...it's like the Speedy Gonzalez of mice (mouses? -- I don't know what you call this inanimate object...but I think that mice is correct...?)! Plus I got to use the $20 in gift cards I had from buying my brother 2 XBox games at Christmas, so yeah. Good times.

We've got a ginormous trench/ditch where our driveway used to be, as they're getting ready to work on the foundation for the new addition to the house. It's about 4' deep...maybe deeper actually. My sister stood in the ditch and it was taller than she is...and she's about 4' tall. Awesome. Watching the M's game and we're in the 15th inning right now...hope we win it! Now it's one of the longest games played at The Safe, if I'm not mistaken. I think the longest was 19 innings in 2000...man, I was hoping we'd win the game by the time I finished this blog, but I guess not!

Ok, now I've made my changes to the template and we're in the 16th...c'mon M's!! I sure hope we win this one. Pray. It's almost midnight! Have a wonderful night/day/afternoon...whenever you people have decided to read my blog. If anyone's reading it...=P

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Anyone getting sick of that Corona commercial yet? I think I am...I've prolly seen it 20 times throughout the M's broadcast thus far...;)

Ok, Rick Rizz just said that it's the 6th longest game in M's history. And we WIN!!! Thanks to WINN!! hehehe...that was corny, but dude...just happy that we've got another win under our belts. Whew!! Lotsa interesting plays and calls tonight...definately just makes you love the game even more. Time to study up and go to bed. And maybe watch a movie. I don't have class til 1:30pm tomorrow...woohoo! Take care all!

Work hasn't been fantabulously exciting, but then again, when has it ever been that way? The pressure is mounting from school and that's not so exciting either.

While I'm grateful that I don't have any tests to speak of this quarter, but man, the papers I have to write are most certainly a pain in the buttocks.

The IHL paper is something I need to have done by tomorrow so that I can email it to the other group members and we can all put our input in and discuss how we're going to hold the presentation. So we'll see how that goes...I've got my fingers crossed.

HMJ paper is due on the 13th (rough draft, thank God) and I'm debating whether or not I want to use an old paper about Sino-Japanese relations in the postwar period or if I want to finally write the paper on the Chinese Cultural Revolution I've been wanting to do since last year...we'll see. I have a little more time to think about that one.

Mariners are really sucking it up right now and it's very disheartening. We're 8-16!!! How the hell did that happen?! I mean, it's sad to think that I'm happy for us when our record is over .300!! So disappointing. But it's ok. I still love the M's.

Last night had dinner at my aunt's house and after some Phase 10 and dessert, then proceeded to have quite a lively/heated debate/discussion about religion, God, and the like with my cousins and aunt. Man it was interesting...I hate it when people take on the Holier-than-thou attitude, and man, was Roni working that last night. Pissed/annoyed/frustrated the hell out of the rest of us. She thinks she knows everything and well, she doesn't. Oh well.

Construction at the house is still going on and it's damn noisy. They've taken out all the concrete from the driveway except for a bit surrounding the A/C, which they won't touch until absolutely necessary, thank goodness...

Minding one's p's and q's around certain people actually takes more effort/concentration than one would imagine. I've been having to do that at work when we have people from a certain religious group come by to look around, as we're starting up a new program with them.

Today's the four year anniversary of the day my dad was diagnosed with cancer, and well, here we are! I think he's officially in remission now! Woohoo!! Congratulations Daddy!

And I should get back to work/working on my paper. Have a wonderful day and get out and enjoy the beautiful weather!!
