Napoleon Dyanamite(Please rate my quiz)

Which Napoleon Dynamite character are you?
brought to you by

Didn't do much this past week/weekend. Unfortunately for me, I have a shitload of work to do now and I'm kinda screwed for the week. Excellent work by me.

Dante's to Finn's to Tommy's to Earl's to Galway to 5626 Thursday, it was good times. Heated air hockey games, dinner at Daniel's Broiler, and being sick.

I think I've got the flu or something. But of course, I still need to work. So wonderful. I have a box full of business cards (cards I did not design, mind you) and pretty soon, I'm not gonna know what to do with them, seeing as how only about 1/16th of them have been given away and I'm not going to be working there within the next...few months.

Good luck to all during this hellishly wonderful time in the quarter called midterms.

The fact that I have The West Wing on DVD is not helping matters any at all. I have the first 3 seasons, and well...I'm basically watching WW during many waking hours. Too addictive, and even though I've seen them all like 50 times...I can't get enough.

Back to the grindstone.

Thanks to Sean, my computer is once again complete. (With a nice little upgrade, that is). I've got all my music, documents, and pictures back, so I thankfully won't have to run through the entire NatGeo website to get my wallpapers.

Unfortunately, I can't access the Internet. Anywhere. Except for their apartment (thus far). I have yet to try it at my apartment, but it currently doesn't work at my place. No wireless, not even a land line. Sucky. So I'm just gonna have to drag my cousin's bf over here to fix it for me. I mean, hey, that's what he does for a living! (Networking for Microsoft...oh it's good to have computer geeks in the family...as well as being dear friends).

I finished my 7 page paper for U.S. in L.A. and the Caribbean and turned it in -- in class -- on Tuesday. I only got 3 hours of sleep but wrote it in about 3-4 hours. So that's not bad, especially since I wrote it the morning it was due. I don't think I ever want to research U.S. intervention in Guatemala before 1945 again. It was tough finding resources on that! Everything I found was about the postwar period; mainly focusing on coffee, indigenous Mayans, the 1954 CIA coup, and multiple subjects I was going to talk about for the 2nd paper or on topics completely unrelated to what I was researching.

Today Tida and I had our presentation on public buildings for Art and Society in the Roman City, which went better than I thought it was going to. Thank God that's over with.

Unfortunately, with the end of this week begins midterms hell. Papers, take home exams, birthday parties, Chinese New Year events I must attend, Sonics games (yeah, I know...that's a plus, not a minus), all in addition to work and trying to lead some semblance of a social life. I might be busy, or I just might not care anymore.

Good luck to all on that one.

Thanks to Erin for making stew tonight for dinner, it was grood. Shame about those mint Oreos. I was looking forward to at least one. The West Wing: Season 1: Disc 1 was good though (as always). I heart my Christmas present!

Thursday: Work, school, Zoe for Jaime's interview/questionnaire thing, then Dante's?
Friday: School, nap time?, downtown for dinner (and a movie?) with Sunny and Jared and ________ (insert your name), just gimme a call about it if you wanna join.

Freakin' Facebook is taking up too much of my life.

There are some terrible singers out there. Watch American Idol for like, 5 minutes just to hear the bad voices and see the scary people.

Laugh. Laugh hard, and laugh well. (You might also be inclined to cover your ears and eyes, but hey...it's entertainment -- I'll pretty much take anyway I can).

A very happy 21st birthday to Ms. Lynn Kim -- a few of us celebrated at Dante's Wednesday night. We almost got a free pitcher of beer from Trivia Night! So close, so close...

Happy 22nd birthday to Mr. Ryan Gockel...even though you're at SCU, I can still wish you a happy birthday!

Went to $3 Pitcher Night at Dante's Thursday. They upped the price (by a dollar) and the cutoff is now 10pm instead of 11pm. Stupid drunken idiots who go around stabbing people. SIGH. About 3/4 of the place cleared out by 11pm, and we were one of the only tables left there at 1am. So sad. But we got gyros at Aladdin's afterwards which made me happy.

Mmm...gyros...Nate, you owe me.

Other than that, rather uneventful.

Hanging out with Margie and Sarah quite a bit. I think we'll be going out tomorrow night after they get back from the cabin. Before Sarah goes home to Nebraska and off to her whirlwind European adventure for 2 months in London and 2 months in Florence.

I'm green with envy.

Enough chatter for now. More later.

SEAN FIXED MY COMPUTER!!! And it works way better than it did before!!!

Thanks so much, Shan! I heart having computer nerds/geeks as friends! Mostly sometimes...sometimes...

I also heart Garden State, Jamba Juice, and ice cream cake.

Although I don't heart the dude at DQ who couldn't speak English and flipped the ice cream cake over strangely...

Go Sonics!!

Josh did a picture update! You should check it out for a few more pics from my 21st...oh how drunk did I get that night!?

|

So I got hugged by a random drunk homeless man yesterday...Of all the times not to have a bf or some sort of male around...Not to say that I can't take care of myself, I am a big girl, you know...I wear real underwear and all...no Pull-Ups for me anymore. But it might have taken care of the situation, if not preventing it from happening at all.

How did this happen, you might ask?

Well, Candace and I were enjoying good conversation and caffeinated beverages at Cafe Zoe when this totally drunk homeless man stumbled in the door. Of course we had to be sitting right next to the door, as that was the only place to sit when we got there. Anyway, dude's mumbling about how hungry he is, and Candace takes pity on him after he unceremoniously sat down on the bench next to her and gave him a couple dollars thinking he'd go away.

No. Not even close.

Now he just keeps going on and on and on about how hungry he is and how the ppl at Zoe are gonna kick him out, blah blah blah. Seeing as how his proximity to Candace was making her extremely uncomfortable at this point (not to mention the odor of cheap alcohol that was rolling off him in waves), I suggested/told her to put our cups away so that she could 1)get away from him and 2)hope that he would (albeit unsuccessfully) get the hint and leave.

Again, no such luck.

Seeing that he's getting up, I'm cheering (on the inside) that he's finally gonna leave after being there for at least 5 minutes. Uh uh. He gets up, looks at me, and says, "My sister! Gimme a hug."

Oh shit.

So dude hugs me and I have no time to react, as I'm sitting in my chair frozen like naked mole rat in the middle of the North Pole. He finally lets go of me at which point I'm physically trying not to make a mad dash to the bathroom and de-germ my hands and the rest of my body. Trying to tell the bum to go get some food and that there's a good place to eat down the street. Candace comes back with the thin Korean girl who works there. He's trying to give Candace a hug, and lucky her, she's got the table as a buffer zone, whereas I only had the sympathetic look of "I'm so sorry" from the girl sitting in the corner.

So we've got Candace who is saying, no I don't need a hug, bum trying to give her one and saying that he's just trying to give his sister a hug, not to call the cops and beginning to get a tad belligerent, Korean girl telling him to leave or she's gonna call the cops, and me slowly regaining use of my paralyzed body, shooting up from the chair, and speed-walking towards the bathroom to wash my hands and shake it off.

When I came back, no bum, Korean girl back behind the counter, and Candace profusely telling me how sorry she is.

Eventful, huh?

Oh wait, there's a little more.

After meeting Nell and having bubble tea at Yunnie, we're walking back to my car when guess who I see sitting on the corner of 45th and the Ave. Oh yes, bum who tried to feel me up when he hugged me. Excellent.

So I'm like...Candace, I'm gonna cross the street now, to which she immediately agrees, leaving Nell to follow us like...what the hell's going on?! Fortunately, no more run-ins with the bum. (At least for the time being). Whew.

Chelsie's birthday was quite eventful and I had a wonderful time! We had a Sluts Gone Wild, Dance Party, Beer Bonging, Drinking Games, Sofa Dancing, Natty Light, Digital Cooch Shots, Ass Grab, Coconut Bra Fest of a good time.

And I was sober the whole night.

Saw Kinsey with Nell and Mitch. Good movie, quite entertaining, you should watch it.

Saw Aimee before she left, so the gang got together and hung out at B&O for a bit...good times had.

Went to Claim Jumper tonight with the unmentionable one, Erin, and Poker Jeff...wait, that name doesn't work as well...hmm...I'm so full I feel like Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when she got to the blueberry pie part of the gum, got freakin' huge, and had to be sent to the juicer.

Oh yes, welcome to Seattle, Pokey Reese. Now we need some pitching...if there's any left out there. Damn you, Randy Johnson! And Beltran went to the Mets...it's gonna be an interesting season. I love baseball.

Seahawks...why, why, why? Third time's definitely NOT a charm.

Sonics...lost to the Clippers!

Huskies...let's win it!

I need to read for my classes. So sad, so sad...or not...whatever.

More updating later. My brain's tired...so I'm not gonna read and I'm gonna go rot my brain on TV instead. Oh baby!

Oh yeah, does someone wanna show me how to get rid of the comments on blogspot and put the Haloscan ones on? I can't figure it out myself because the Haloscan boxes won't show up...

Oh Randy, how could you?

I think my love/hate relationship with the Yankees has just been maxed out. I love the fact that there are so many good players on the team, but I hate that fact at the same time. Damn you, George Steinbrenner. Luxury taxes and revenue-sharing just don't stop you, huh? Oh to lead the life of a gazillionaire.

Seahawks are in the Playoffs against the Rams on Saturday at 1:30pm PT. If the game's not sold-out, then it's blacked out on local TV. I'll be at work anyway, so that won't really affect me, but I coulda gotten tickets in Section 117 for $55 a pop. Damn. Good luck Hawks!

Well, classes are going well and I'm trying to stay on top of my readings...but it's proving to be a tad difficult, seeing as how I have about 400 pages to read per week. Trying to stay on top of things...trying...

I ended up dropping Gender & Globalization, and I think I've made the right choice, as Multiple Encounters: The U.S. in Latin America and the Caribbean is a fascinating and seemingly more interesting class. Not to mention the fact that it's quite relevant (for me) in terms of what I perceive myself doing in the next year or so. (Volunteering in Latin America, that is).

It's supposed to snow this weekend. 4 degrees F on Tuesday? Let me know if my eyes are bad or if that's really what it says. 1"-4" of snow? Here's hoping. Then I wouldn't have to go to work...how sweet would that be!?!

Ms. Chelsie Webb has a birthday gathering on Saturday at the boys' house and if it's not snowing (too badly), I shall be in attendance. You should too.

Take care, and let's hope for snow...c'mon "Chunk the Miracle Worker"...make it happen! ;)

If it snows, I'll give someone boondoggle keychains, a carton of whole milk, some steak, and free glamour shots at the mall. Oh, and Pedro offers you his protection.

Well, it's been a fun break and I'm sorry to see it end.

Lots of fun hanging out with the family, catching up with old HNA friends (you know us Catholic school girls just can't get enough of each other!), not working for a week and a half, and just kicking back and relaxing.

Good times were certainly in abundance!

Christmas was good, and I got some grood presents...iPod Photo, new North Face fleece, Family Guy seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, a creme brulee torch (with ramekins, so c'mon down and I'll whip up some creme brulee), new purse, book on bartending, money...stuff like that. I love Christmas!

Aside from the good 'ol HNA/O'Dea crew, I spent quite a bit of time hanging out with Sean and Erin over at their place, and Sean's best friend Nick came up from CA to visit. We need to play Worms more often. Go team The Purple Cobra...and Whit_____e.

Erin and I won most of the rounds that night...woohoo! Nick, you should come visit more often. Sean gets giddy like a school girl and Erin tends to roll her eyes a lot. Seriously...hehehe...

New Year's Eve was good, had dinner with the fam at my aunt's house, then headed on over to Sean and Erin's where Katie, Sarah, and Kelsey were playing Shanghai rummy with the 3 amigos. Watched the fireworks -- not very impressive this year I must say, Napoleon Dynamite -- always fun to watch, took Katie home with Erin and went to bed.

Watched The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou with Kairu...I totally recommend it. If you like Wes Anderson's previous films, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this one. Not quite as many outlandish sea creatures as I was expecting, but I liked it nonetheless. Kairu said it was a toss up between The Royal Tenanbaums and Life Aquatic, so if that gives you any indication...

Willem Dafoe as Klaus is hilarious and Seu Jorge as Pele the troubadour is amazing. His voice is incredible...I need to get the soundtrack...tons of Bowie songs translated and sung in Portuguese. Too much fun!

Here's what I'm signed up for for Winter Qtr:

ART H 380A: 19th & 20th Century Art (MWF 1230-150)
ART H 400A: Art and Society in the Roman City (MW 230-350)
HSTAA 290A: The U.S. in the Caribbean (TTh 230-420)
WOMEN 333A: Gender & Globalization (TTh 1030-1220)

Although I'm thinking about dropping G&G cuz that's already 18 credits, and Trisha said the class wasn't that great...so I'm gonna check out the first couple of classes and see if I wanna stick with it or not.

Now it's time to get back to ripping CDs to my comp and putting them on my brand spakin' new iPod! I'm so excited...I haven't used it yet! Enough chatter, after organizing my rims...err, music, I'm going to bed. I need to catch up on sleep!

Take care and I hope that the quarter and new year go well for you all! (To those...5 of you who read this blog, that is). ;)
