What did I do for Spring Break, you may ask? Not a whole hell of a lot, I reply. Worked on Monday, yay for me...=P then went to
Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands with Sunny and Alicia. Good times. Went to Anacortes, WA to catch the ferry and sat around talking for the 1 hr 15 min ride. Went to our hotel, the Cascade Harbor Inn and since there's a special deal going on where you get 50% off if you reserve a room within 2 days of your arrival, we got our 50% off the normal $65 rate they have going in the winter season which ends on April 1st. Well, since we had 1 extra person, the cost was another $25, which, with the 50% off rate is still freakin wonderful, we were bad and decided to say the 3rd person cancelled. So we got the room for a grand total of...$32.50!!! WOOHOO!!! Drove up (hehe, we be lazy...) to the top of Mt. Constitution in Moran State Park took some pics and hiked a bit up there. Good times.

By the way, Orcas has no sort of public transportation, street lights, or anything like that really...we seached freakin' FOREVER for OHS (their high school) but never found it...found lotsa school bus stop signs though...just never found the school...oh well. I'll have to ask my old roomie from last year about that...she's from there. Hi Claire! Orcas really has no sort of "downtown" as we city folk generally think of it. It's about a 2, maybe 3 block radius in which there are located little shops and restaurants. Ate there for dinner, drove around and explored the whole island (in the safety of my car, of course) ;) and had some great girl talk...heehee...next day we went back to Moran State Park and hiked around the main lake there...good times...lots of pics, which was great. Drove around some more, got my car even dirtier than it already was, ate at a nice little Mexican place called Bilbo's (me, being the LoTR/Tolkien fan that I am, immediately thought of The Hobbit, heehee), drove around some more, and found a really cute place called West Beach or something like that. Sat around for awhile, dorve some more, talked some more, and finally caught the 6:15pm ferry back to Anacortes where we proceeded to talk even more.

Oh yes, while waiting for the ferry to load, the Jeep in front of us...well, more like the couple inside the Jeep in front of us, decided to have a rather long make-out session in the car where we...unintentionally, but then we just couldn't help it...watched the couple make-out, cuddle, make-out some more...basically massive displays of PDA in their car, which I don't know if that would be considered PDA, but whatever...I digress...for a good 15 minutes or so. Goodness people...can't you wait?! lol...it was funny. Yeah, so ferry, then got gas for a cheap $1.78/gal (remember that this is in Anacortes, not Seattle, where I get gas for a good $1.84/gal...sucks ass) and drove down to the Seattle Waterfront/ferry terminal in a little over an hour. I drive fast. I like to drive fast. Weee!!!!!!! The girls took the ferry home, I went home, and I chilled for a day.

Today went to Claim Jumper with Erin (thanks for the ride!!), Sean, and Derek (who just came back from his trip to Colorado) got stuffed...damn that's a lot of food...as Erin said...they "popped my Claim Jumper cherry".....eek! lol...then went back to the dorms and hung out for awhile, saw the Webbs, back from their trip to Arizona, Alex, back from his home in Arizona, and Casey...back from Silverdale? ;) and here I am at freakin 4am editing my blog. Wow, I need to go to bed. NOW. With that, I bid you all adieu and will prolly see most of you when school starts on...eek!!!....M-o-n-d-a-y...should prove to be an interesting quarter! (Sunny and Alicia know what I mean! ;)) Night all. =D

Well, thank God for Spring Break! I think my employeers might make me work though...UGH...hopefully will do the whole road trip thing with Sunny and Alicia...we'll see. After my last final, I went back to my room and prolly got about 1/2 an hour of sleep before Patrick and Candace knocked on my door. They had just finished their BIO 180 final and came to visit, which was nice. I haven't talked to them in forever and we ended up talking for like 4 hours or so. That was fun. We should do it again! Then I was gonna take a shower and go have dinner in the Village with Kairu, so I put up my shower away message and decided to lie down for 10 minutes...those 10 minutes turned into a few hours, as a proceeded to wake up at 8:30pm. Whoops...took a shower and Sean and Derek IMed me and Sean left me a message on my phone, cuz we were supposed to get together and do something after Erin got off work. Quick shower and we met her in McMahon where Derek proceeded to turn on the TV to watch March Madness and see how his bracket's doing. Went to Red Robin, 7-11, Erin's friend Mark's place, and went back to McCarty. Were getting settled when lo and behold, ANOTHER freakin' fire alarm goes off. This was what...the 9th???? one that we've had all year?! Jeez...then watched Super Troopers with them, the Webbs, Kate, Craig, and Paul. Funny movie...bummed around for awhile after that and finally went to bed at 4 or so...I'm a night-owl...woke up late today and went to see my uncle's dad at Swedish...according to my mom, he's doing a lot better, so that's good news. Then my dad went with my uncle to the Sonics game...we're playing the Nuggets, so hopefully we win this one!! Went to dinner and now I'm finally back at home. I think I'll veg out for the remainder of Spring Break...heehee ;)

I AM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH WINTER QUARTER 2003!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (If you are an idiot and can't tell, or just insanely obtuse...I'm excited) =D

|

Shitballs. Life sucks ass. :'(

Sigh...we're officially at war. Watched Bush's 48 Hour speech on Monday. Thoughts and prayers go out to the men and women in the armed services, especially those in the Middle East, as well as their family and friends. Hopefully all the major decision makers involved in the situation in Iraq will try to come to peaceful terms as quickly as possible without major casualties on either side. I'm hoping Operation Iraqi Freedom will be resolved quickly and we will finish what we started in terms of taking out Saddam and especially in terms of helping to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure. This is nothing like Afghanistan where there really was no infrastructure to rebuild in the first place. Iraq actually has a systematic infrastructure that will be toppled when/if we win and do what we promise to do. meh...Watched Bush's speech on TV, watched the taped Saddam speech, basically watched NBC/CBS/CNN most of the day after the IPE final...bad. War is bad.

Well, my uncle's dad is at Swedish Hospital suffering from pneumonia...not a good thing. He's about 88 or so. Was in a nursing home, but now he's in the hospital. Talked to my mom about it, and she said yesterday that they were putting him on antibiotics because he wasn't responding to anyone or anything at the nursing home, or even at the hospital. So I don't know what's going today but yesterday my mom said that if he wasn't responding to anything by today, there won't be much hope for him and that he could possibly go at any time. Extremely depressing, but he's lived a good life, so if he dies, then at least he can be with his wife again. *sigh* No more depressing talk.

On a lighter note...COM final went ok, hopefully I did well...SIS was better than I thought it was gonna be. It could have been so much harder than it was, but I think I did alright. I'm shooting for a 2.0 and then the .5 from the lecture will boost it up to a 2.5, leading me to a hopeful *fingers crossed* 2.8 overall in the class. SOC tomorrow...err, today...at 8:30am. Hope I do well. It should take about 1/2 an hour and then I will be done with finals for Winter Quarter!!!! Woohoo!!! I'm excited. Will prolly go to coffee and dinner with Kairu and something after that with Derek, Sean, and Erin after she gets off work.
Time to relax for a good week plus a few days. Sigh...I can't wait.

Hung out with Sean and Derek and Trent for awhile while Trent waited for the Webbs to come back with some...ahem...alcoholic beverages...heehee...Then proceeded to watch Trent and Jeremy get drunk tonight while Greg and Josh taped most of their drunken fun...funny...Trent seemingly has some inner "blackness" hidden inside him that comes out when he gets drunk. They were good for a few laughs...lol... ;) Watched them play Halo, at Jeremy's insistence (of course), hung out some more, watched TV, and am back.

Alright then...that's enough talk for now...will prolly post more later since I will have free time on my hands! Happy 20th Birthday to Karina!!! I love you!

Sunday, March 16, 2003

Eek...it sure has been awhile since I last posted...oh well...I've been extremely busy lately! Thank God classes and especially papers (like that damn SIS reesearch paper) are over (for this quarter, anyway), now off to the wonderful world of FINALS!!!! EEK!!!
Monday, March 17: COM 201 @ 10:30am
Wednesday, March 19: SIS 201 @ 2:30pm
Thursday, March 20: SOC 271 @ 8:30am.
Poop!!! Oh well, at least I'll get a little over a week's worth of Spring Break. Not planning on doing much though. Will prolly be spending my time vegging out in front of the TV at home. ;p Sunny wants to go on a roadtrip/camping since she doesn't have any plans either, so hopefully that works out. Uh...went to The Ram today with Casey, Jenny, Sunny, Mitch, Nell, Trent, Sean, Jared, Derek, Christian, Chris, Desiree, and Kate to watch Casey, Chris, Des, and Christian participate in our own Husky Burger competition...Christian was the big winner tonight time-wise -- yay Christian! -- then came Chris, Casey, and Des! MAJOR PROPS to Des who was the only girl in the competition!! To those of you who don't know...the Husky Burger is a 1 lb. beef patty with all the usual burger condiments, a pickle, plus fries and/or onion rings. Although Christian may have won in terms of clearing his entire plate the fastest, I think that Des won overall cuz she was the most excited to have dessert afterwards! Woohoo!! Tons-o-fun! After that, most of us went back to my aunt's house (I'm housesitting til Monday), talked, ate some cookies, had some non-alcoholic drinks, and watched The Bourne Identity. After that we chatted some more, then Casey, Sunny, Jenny, and Mitch left leaving me, Kate, Jared, Derek, and Sean (Trent played the part of the good student and went back to the dorms to study for his finals...whatever...bet he studied for maybe an hour or two and played XBox the rest of the time, if that ;)) to stay behind and talk for awhile longer...I think they were only expecting to stay for like 20 mins more, but it ended up being like an hour, I think. Took them home to the dorms, and came back here! That's my night, and I'm goin to bed now cuz I've got a long fun-filled day ahead of me tomorrow! Night all. =)

Sunday, March 09, 2003

My dad's bday was yesterday, well, techinically 2 days ago, on the 7th...Happy Bday Daddy!...didn't really do anything that day...before my mom came to pick me up, I ran into Sean in front of McCarty and he told me that Derek's in San Jose rockin' it out with the band watchin' the Husky women kick ass in the Pac-10 tourney! Congrats Derek! Hope you're having a great time! Uh...yeah...so I went home, ate an early dinner since my dad got my uncle's courtside tix to the Sonics game vs. the Sixers, then went to Chinatown (International District...whatever...) and had late night snacks with the fam. Good times.
Today was supposed to be a productive day, but it didn't end up being that way. Picked up Jared and we went to Patty's Eggnest on 45th...mmm...that was good. Then we went next door and stopped at Le Boulangerie and picked up a few items. Haven't been there in awhile...the pasteries there are SO incredibly good!! Headed down to the UVillage and Barnes & Noble to study/work on my fatty research paper for SIS and say hi to Alex. Jared already finished his paper...bastard. We didn't get a table which sucked, but we settled for the comfy chairs right in front of the children's section. Unfortunately, those chairs aren't very conducive to studying, so we ended up getting minimal amounts of work done and spent most of the time talking. Thanks for the employee discount on coffee, Alex! Proceeded to go to Atlas for dinner where the new theme of the month is Texas. Good food, and I finally took Kairu's advice and ordered the berry cobbler. We were supposed to be back at Jared's room by 7pm for movie night, but we ended up getting there at oh, 7:40pm, I'd say. Took the cobbler to go. Watched Road to Perdition...sad but good movie...I cried at the end. Then watched one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies of all time, City Hunter. It's a really random early '90s Hong Kong comedy which, to western standards, is strange, esp since the level of Jackie Chan movies made in the U.S. are lower than those made in Hong Kong. Anyway, I think everyone was entertained, even if they didn't like it all that much. Alex and I thouroughly enjoyed it! Basically the story surrounds a Japanese private eye (all based on a Japanese comic book) surrounded by beautiful women while fighting off evil terrorists/bandits. Great '80s/early '90s references in it...but the jokes just don't translate very well from Cantonese to English...oh well. Anyway, I need to get to bed, wake up at a decent hour, and be a hermit so that I can focus on my SIS research paper and be done with it. Hopefully I'll be able to get it done by tomorrow...err...today...and not be furiously typing away at my laptop until 11:10am, right before I have to turn my paper in at 11:30am at the beginning of lecture. Wish me luck! Have a good night everyone...I'll be living the life of a hermit working hard (hopefully) on that damn paper. That's all for now... =)
P.S. Congrats to Lakeside and esp Ms. Mary Kuder on the 3A State win today! "Mary Kuder was a pest at both ends of the court, picking off six steals, grabbing five rebounds and scoring four points." Yay for Mary!! http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/134649461_girls09.html The HNA Cougs will come back...one day... ;p

I went to COM lecture today! Woohoo! Stupid course evaluations...*grumble*...Didn't end up doing the SIS weekly paper for this week. Will do it for next week, hopefully I get above a 3.2 so that it negates the 2.9 I got on the very first one. Haven't even started my COM paper yet...yay for procrastination! =P I always procrastinate...it's like 2nd nature to me...started my SOC tutorial, hopefully I'll get that done soon. Then I have to work on my COM paper. Joy. Just woke up from a 2 hour nap...that was nice...alright, time to get to work. Hopefully I don't pull an all-nighter. That would suck major ass...if the UVillage Starbucks or B&N were open 24/7, that would solve so many of my problems right now...Can you get physically heavier from the burden of emotional/intellecutal weight? =/ Cuz I know that I'm beginning to feel like I'm gonna keel over at anytime...Damn the last 2 weeks before finals...I have a total of 7 papers due here in the last 2 weeks of the quarter. Then 3 finals. Yay for me. One last thing: I'll be housesitting for my aunt & uncle again, cuz they're in Hong Kong...no idea as to how long I will be doing this for though. [End post].

|

Go to Jeremy's site Lounging with Lunchbox: (it's also on the sidebar under Links!), go to his forum and let's have a nice discussion about the merits of art. Ugh...I would much rather have an Art building than a Halo building!! Why exactly we are talking about this...I have no idea...I guess you could say I kinda started it...just go to his site and you'll see what I mean. =P

|

P.S. Giving up chocolate for Lent does not mean that you can eat brownies...SUNSHINE!!

|

So I went to the East Asia Library today...was only planning on spending like 10 min there so that I could renew my books and go. Didn't quite turn out that way...I stayed about 2 hours researching new materials for that damn SIS research paper due on Monday. UGH! And I'm pissed that I missed: World in Crisis. 7:00 PM, 110 Kane Hall. Round Table Discussion with International & Regional Specialists from the University of Washington if I had gone, I woulda gotten +.5 on my final that's in 2 weeks!! Ack!! Oh well, life goes on...right now I'm debating whether or not I wanna do the 5th and final SIS weekly paper for tomorrow or next week. I'll prolly be typing through tonight and tomorrow night as I have a tutorial for SOC and a COM paper due on Friday. Sigh...have to work tomorrow, which sucks ass, but I'm getting paid $10/hour so I really shouldn't be complaining. Sent in my application to volunteer at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) about a week ago and they still haven't contacted me. Found a new website that I really enjoy...won't ever have the money to buy any of these prints, but hey...I'll download and save them as wallpaper: With all that out of the way, I'm gonna go listen to Kind of Blue...Miles Davis...absolute genius!!!...and write a paper or do something productive...night all.

Ok, so if my phone keeps being retarded, I'm getting a new one...I'll wait til the weekend and see what my mom says. Anyhoo--busy day...kinda...not really productive, but when am I ever?! heehee...went to class, that was...fun...yay participation points! Then came back here to my room for about an hour or so, went to Cafe Zoe and later Jared and Trent joined me. We were supposed to be studying for SIS...ha!! We just sat around talking...I think Jared was the most productive out of all of us and all he did was fill in the map. Oh well...our convo jumped from intellectually stimulating to...well...let's just say the boys always have their minds in the gutter...Then went to dinner at Honeybee's...yummy fatty foods... ;p On to the SIS movie (last one...aww...) which was Punitive Damage: East Timor. Very interesting movie. I really enjoyed it, even though it was depressing...as all of those SIS movies are. Oh well...then I came back to McCarty, hung out with the boys, tried to read out of the SIS packet (I read like 7 pages, max.), and then said screw it and played Rush on Dreamcast with Jared, Derek, and Sean.
Hopefully there won't be any fire alarms going off tonight (it's Mardi Gras, people)...if there are, I'm gonna be so pissed! Anyway, off to the land of nod where I can dream that it isn't the 2nd to last week before finals, which are coming 'round the bend, not to mention the fact that I have my last SIS weekly paper due Thursday, COM media paper #2: the news on Friday, and my SIS research paper is due on Monday. PLUS it's my dad's bday on Friday, so it's gonna be a busy week...and with that, I bid you goodnight.

I'm also thinking about reworking my sched...might not double with COM anymore...just had a convo with Kairu and hey, you only live once, right? Might have to change my whole sched around...eek! Just the thought of the backlash from the fam is not very good... =/

Monday, March 03, 2003

Oooo...oh yes...the random goings on of my life...well, I've stayed up til 5am talking more than twice now...and if it hasn't been 5am, it's been 2am, or 3am, or even 4am! I'm insane. A couple nights ago (Saturday, I think), I went with Jared, Derek, and Paul to Best Buy where I got "Charade" with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn for $6.99!! I was so excited! Finally got "The Thomas Crown Affair," -- great movie, especially since it combines art with all that intrigue! ;) -- and a few CDs. Then we went to Olive Garden...mmm...and I went driving all around Seattle with a couple of friends. Showed them the tour of "my Seattle."
We went everywhere -- in no particular order -- from Lakeside and my house in Northgate to the U-District, the Arboretum, all along Lake Washington Blvd. (Leschi -- and they had to pee, so we stopped by the Leschi Cafe where they peed right across from all the boats in the marina...there was someone in one of the boats and they saw...whoops! I, on the other hand, sat in the car and waited for them to be done. I am a lady and will not partake in such behavior. :D
Continuing on -- Madrona, Magnolia, Mount Baker -neighborhood, that is- Seward Park, etc.), Capital Hill (where we had a break and stopped at B.&O., had soooo much chocolate I think I'll be very content for awhile...all the while just chatting and playing Top 5), Broadway, Volunteer Park, St. Mark's, St. James, we even went and saw my old grade and high schools (St. Joe's and HNA, respectively), Belltown, the Waterfront, Chinatown, Safeco, the Space Needle, EMP, the Science Center, and drove all along Alki Beach in West Seattle.
Good times, good times. And that isn't even the FULL tour. So many more places to go and see! I think that we're gonna do it again only this time, it'll be during the day so pics will actually come out and whatnot. I was basically out and about from 1pm-4am. Not to mention the fact that I had stayed up until 5am the day before and woke up at 12pm the day of. Oh well, it was relaxing and there's nothing like driving around at night talking with friends, watching the scenery pass you by, and listening to some great music...gonna have to do it again...

|

Classes for next quarter are...SIS 202, COM 202, ART H 205, and PHYS 207 (I registered last Friday). That's 18 credits and if any of you want to know what those classes are...post it in the forum or IM me! Whee!!! Ok, no more of this nonsense...gotta get down to work...last two weeks of the quarter are here, and before you know it...finals. But then it'll be Spring Break and I will finally have a chance to relax, unless I have to work...damnit. Oh well...will post more later.

|

Well hello and welcome to my page of randomness...as the title implies. ;) Anyhoo--I've found that this is prolly the best way for friends and family to catch up on the random goings on of my life, especially those with whom I haven't talked to in FOREVER!!! I love you guys! Lunch crew forever! Not to mention my lovely HNA people (Augustine I love you!), and the Bath crew!! (Bath, England, as in where the Jane Austen Museum resides!) Will post more soon! Glad you could come and visit!
