Thanksgiving was wonderful. Tons and tons of food...mmm...

The requisite turkey (22 lbs.), Honeybaked Ham, mashed potatoes, honey mashed sweet potatoes, salad, dressing/stuffing (whatever you wanna call it), steamed broccoli and carrots, regular cranberry sauce, candied ginger cranberry sauce, 2 pumpkin pies, an apple pie, and a pecan pie. All for about 20 people. Crazy!!

So we had lots of fun and eating...and then watched The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers extended DVD version...it's so much better than the regular one. I must commend Mr. Peter Jackson for putting out the extended versions....they are SO GOOD!!!! The additional footage just adds more to the movie and for fans of the book (like me) you get more of what you wanted to see from the book. YAY!

Today I haven't done much so far. Been sitting around and sleeping...trying to catch up on sleep. I stayed up for about 26 hours on Thursday. I was up at 2AM on Wednesday finishing 2 papers, and didn't go to bed til about 4AM Thursday (Thanksgiving) morning. Ack. So I've been trying to recouperate...been doing an ok job, but not the best.

Got my ART H paper due Tuesday and SIS Section presentation on an ass-load of reading on Wednesday...and then finals are coming!! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! This quarter has gone by rather quickly...hehehe...anyway, that's about it for now. Have a wonderful weekend and take care!! *muah*

I AM SO DISTURBED BY THIS THAT I CAN'T EVEN THINK OF POSTING A COHERENT COMMENT ON THE SITE THAT WOULDN'T INVOLVE MAJOR LAPSES IN THOUGHT.

I am utterly shocked by this. I can't believe it. What the hell are these people thinking?!?! (I found the link on Jeremy's site). It's just plain wrong. W-R-O-N-G. How can people be so ignorant and well, just plain stupid?! I mean, I know that everyone's entitled to their rights and freedom of speech and all that, but JESUS. This just makes me feel like I'm living in some freaky time-warped world or something......................................................................................................................................I sure as hell hope these people are doing this to rouse discussion and aren't serious about it.

I mean, I know that there are people who really do believe such things, and.....I.....God, I just don't get it. I'm just sitting here shaking my head and staring out in space thinking how people can believe such things when you're in a society that...God I can't even finish a coherent thought because this has disturbed me so much. Not to mention the fact that I got like 3 hours of sleep and was writing papers all morning...but that's not the point.

Do people not know that the mistakes of the past are learning experiences and should not be repeated? It boggles the mind that people from our/my/the younger generation can believe such hideous things. The facts have been clearly presented and documented. Hitler and Stalin were in no way good men. They may have been great at what they did, but that was only because they inspired fear and submission to achieve their so-called "greatness." I just don't see how one can justify this type of thinking. That young people are trying to justify and in the process glorifying what Hitler did (Stalin as well, but they talk more about Hitler) is absolutely insane. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Do they not understand that the world as we all know it would be INDEFINABLY DIFFERENT should Hitler have come out on top and won WWII?! They way we live now would be practically nonexistent. We would live under a military dictatorship with a psychopathic lunatic for a leader. Dear God, I'm getting too riled up about this one. That combined with nonsensical thoughts about how stupid and ignorant people are is causing me more frustration with some people in the world today...no more typing. Work time. Maybe I'll have more collected and coherent thoughts later...wow...people are SPECIAL. And I mean S-P-E-C-I-A-L. UGH...

So I'm screwed...

Today had my Psychobiology of Women midterm #3...that was exciting...kinda...all about puberty, hormone-behavior interactions, sex drive/behavior, and contraception...

Went to all my classes today and got my ART H midterm back...I ended up doing way better than I thought! Got a 91 instead of the 19 that I was expecting!! Woohoo!!

So hung out with Tida for a bit, and came back to the apt...gotta get crackin' on the SIS research paper...I've got 2 pages outta 7 so far...yuck. I hate research papers...Econ paper's almost done, thank God. And then this weekend I'll be doing my ART H paper...how exciting.

Prolly won't be getting much sleep tonight, seeing as how I have to work on the paper, and today's the 3 year anniversary of my Uncle Jim's death. Gonna go over to the house tonight and pay our respects...so that'll take up a couple hours or so...and I wanna try and go to Jamba Juice with Candace tonight, seeing as how she leaves tomorrow for L.A. to go home for Thanksgiving.

Work tomorrow after classes, then home and pre-Thanksgiving cooking. Then Thanksgiving on Thursday (duh), and bumming around. Work this Sunday then classes again. I can't believe this quarter's almost over. Insane.

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY ERIK!!

Feel better soon Josh!! (And Ringo, of course) ;)

Alright, better get back to work. Not fun, but it's gotta be done...bleh. Take care all! *muah*

APPLE CUP WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our wonderful UW Huskies beat those stupid WSU Cougars 27-19!!! Yeow!!GO DAWGS!!

The game was wonderful and it was so exciting!!! What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon/evening with friends at the tradition and Washington rivalry that is Apple Cup...great last home game, and totally worth the cold and drunk people all around us. Totally worth it. Josh got some good pics, although when he's gonna post those on his site is yet to be determined.

So I went to work for 2 hours before the game, Candace came over, had a little snack to tide us over til dinner, and then went to the game. SIXTH STRAIGHT YEAR! Then headed off to dinner at Atlas, which was wonderful...a little caffeinated pick-me-up at Starbucks (mm...peppermint mocha...) and dropped Candace off at her place. Jarf and I then proceeded to head back to his place and watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving...it was wonderful...bummed around (vegging out in front of the TV) and yeah...that's about all we did. Webbs and Trent came back from a little bar hopping, talked to them for a bit, a little more TV, and now I'm home and going to bed cuz I have to work at 12PM and it's almost 4AM right now!!

My goodness...tomorrow is work, get a new phone (about damn time), and then it'll be working on my SIS research paper and stupid Econ written assignment #2...but I'll obviously be spending much more time on SIS than Econ. No doubt about that one! Alright, enough jabber outta me. GO HUSKIES!! Apple Cup is so exciting! Night/morning all! *MUAH*

Dear Jessica,

This is to inform you that you have been selected as an alternate for the
Art History Seminar in Rome in Spring 2004. The competition was
particularly keen this year and – as you know – only twelve applicants
could be considered. I will, however, contact you should students withdraw
from the program.

I would like to thank you for your interest in the Art History Program in
Rome and encourage you to apply another year, either for this or another
program.

With all good wishes,

Christine G?ttler
Associate Professor of Art History

I think that just about says it all... =(

So maybe I'll drop that ENVIR class next quarter and feel even more like a slacker by taking 13 credits...we'll see what happens with that...

APPLE CUP TOMORROW!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!! GO DAWGS!!!

|

I did something shocking (for me, anyway) last night...I went to bed at 11:30PM. I'm obviously ridiculously tired if I go to bed that early. Then I slept practically the entire day, thus missing my classes...but I think it's justifiable since I'm been having a bout of insomnia the past couple weeks. Meh...

Work then Piecora's and Jamba Juice, 2 eps of Band of Brothers...only 2 more left! It's so sad! Uh...and from now until Thanksgiving, I'll be quite nervous when I sign in to Webpine. That's because we find out who gets to go to Rome by Thanksgiving. ACK!! So yeah...we'll see how that one goes. Gonna watch my "Must See TV" tape now...well, part of it at least...Apple Cup on Saturday! GO DAWGS!!!!!

Wednesday, November 19, 2003

Too much crap to do and not so much time to do it in...3 giant papers due by next Wednesday, which is really scary. AND my Rome interview was today at 9:30am!!! AHHHH!!!! I think it went ok...I hope...I can't really read Goettler, so I have no idea what to expect. And Steve was there, and he seemed amused, so I don't know...could be good or could be bad...so we'll know by next Wednesday whether I got in or not. Apparently Goettler had all her interviews today, which is totally scaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaary...and she said that a lot more people applied this year than had been expected, so it's gonna be really competitive. Not a good sign, I tell you!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*SIGH* So...I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Either way, I think I might just cry... =P

So after the interview, went to Parnassus, had coffee with Jarf, Nell, and their other coffee buddy, who's also an SIS peep, Spencer. He's funny.

After that, came back to the apt, read the chapter in Landes, and typed up my paper all in about an hour. Sweeeeet. Too bad I still can't find the printer cable, so my printer's just sitting on the floor unused. Then I figure that I can just go to the office and print my LAST WEEKLY PAPER out (so totally happy about that)...get there, Angela says ok, and lo and behold...the internet doesn't work in the office. Sit there for like 10 mins trying to get it to work and I say screw it. So I knock on Katie's door to see if she's there, but she's not. So then I just email the paper to Jacqueline, and head on over to class. Tell Jacqueline, thinking she's gonna be pissed, but she's not. She's SOOOO nice! I love her! Not as good a TA as Perveen, but she's really nice!

Kasaba sat in on the discussion for a bit, and then left. Class over, and now I'm here. Gonna relax for a bit til my mom calls and we head on down to University VW to pick up my poor baby...my CAR, that is...not a real baby!! Ack! No baby wishing until I'm settled, married, and financially stable, por favor! After that, I'll prolly just chill and start to work on one of the 3 papers due next week. So not looking forward to that. Damn papers. Anyway, time to bum around...have a good day! *MUAH*

Sunday, November 16, 2003

Well, I turned in my Rome app on Friday, which was rather unnerving...but once I slipped it under the door, I was so relieved. And before I turned it in, I got an email from Tida saying Goettler was worried that she wasn't even gonna get 12 applicants! Which totally made my day! I was so happy. Then went to drop off my $150 deposit at IP&E in Schmitz and saw Jarf.

Went home, relaxed for a bit, and then went to pic up Sean, Erin, and Jared for a nice little outing to Pyramid, where we enjoyed delicious food, beer -- well, Shan and Erin had the beers, and conversation. And Jared and I gave Sean his present. We got him the Indiana Jones boxed set (widescreen, of course). Good times at Pyramid...we'll have to go there again. Then back to the boys' apt and some cards and Indy/Nemo viewing pleasure. So that was fun. Went home, sleep, work from 12-5 on Saturday.

Too bad my car's brakes are freakin' screwy right now. Must call University VW and make an appt to get that checked out. Apparently Erin had the same problem and it cost about $400....UGH. My poor baby... ='(

After work I took a nap (which was wonderful, seeing as how I didn't get much sleep before...I felt so refreshed afterwards!) and went to Jamba Juice for some Berry Lime Sublime, and headed on over to the boys' again, only this time, it was Trivial Pursuit time. I was one of a handful of sober people there. I had quite an enjoyable time, even though practically everyone else was under the influence. lol...After a fun round of TP, the boys played Halo, and others left. And throughout the night, Jeff could not get his ass under control...let's just say that he was having some GAStric problems...my goodness....

Anyway, fun and games, then home for bed. Work again today, and now I'm stuck doing econ...stupid econ. How much do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways...oh wait. I just remembered: I can't count that high!!!!!!!!

Test manana, not looking forward to that one. Wednesday I have my Rome interview...that's a bit scary. But I should be ok...hopefully it goes well. And my brain isn't fxning anymore (not a good sign since I still have to do econ) but whatever. I can do it! Have a good one! *muah*

My (current) Winter 2004 schedule:

1472 ART H 366 A 5.0 NORTHERN REN ART MWF 1100-1220 ART 003 GOETTLER,C
1477 ART H 463 A 3.0 ITAL REN SCULPTURE MW 1230- 150 ART 003 SNOW-SMITH,J
4418 HSTAS 490 B 5.0 TOPICS ASIAN HISTORY TTh 130- 320 SMI 115 DONG,Y
3656 ENVIR 439 AC 3.0 SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY T 1130- 120 MGH 389 KARR,J W 200- 320 MGH 085 KARR,J

Since WOMEN/SIS 333 was taken, this is what I get. And I emailed my prof for the add code to ART H 400B, so hopefully that'll come thru and I can get into that and drop ART H 463, as much as I love Snow-Smith, I just don't know about that class. At most I could keep the schedule I have and just go to lecture on Mondays for 400B. That could actually work, but then I'd feel bad for not using the add code. Or maybe I could drop 463, get 400B, and then just go to 463 lecture...hmm...oh the possibilities...

Anyway, that's about it for now. Sleep while I can get it. It'll be a miracle if I get up for ECON later... =P

I am so nervous I am shaking.

And what the hell am I doing up at 3:10am when I have to register in about 2 hours and 50 mins, you might ask? My reply will be that I have no idea.

I suppose that it's from wanting to get my classes, but that's not really the case. I think that it's more a result of me being extremely nervous about my Rome application, if I have everything I need, if they think I'm a good candidate...oh God, I'm shaking some more. Not good, but hopefully I'll get over it tomorrow when I turn it in to ART 365...I'm so scared and I don't know why. Ugh. This is not cool.

I started freaking out earlier when I realized that I actually had not taken 2 300-level AH courses yet...I thought I did, but I didn't. So I'm remedying that by taking ART H 366: Northern Renaissance Art (also being taught by the prof who's leading the Rome trip). Hopefully I can get into that, ART H 400B: 1600: Art, Science, and Spirituality (also taught by Goettler), WOMEN 333: Gender and Globalization (there's only 1 spot left though...I'm screwed), and ENVIR 439: Studies-Pop Health, for a grand total of 16 credits. EEK...

Alright, moving on to another subject...Well, it's been rather uneventful the past couple days. Class, work, bumming around (kinda). The usual. Tonight I made a variation of sheperd's pie, walked away from the oven for like 2 seconds and went back to the kitchen with charcoal garlic bread. Excellent. Yeah...watched some more Band of Brothers, did a little talking, and took the boys to their respective homes.

Tomorrow is I dunno what's going on night, Saturday is lunch with the HNA/O'DEA gang for Patrick and Jason's respective (semi-belated) bdays...dunno if that's actually gonna happen though...we'll see how that one goes...and I think we're gonna play some drunken Trivial Pursuit at the apt. That should be fun...

ECON midterm #2 on Monday...yuck. And that's about it for my agenda so far. Have a good one and don't be surprised if you see me tomorrow and I'm a zombie. Either that or I'm uncharacteristically hyper from lack of sleep/nervousness.

Good luck with registration for all those who haven't done so yet (or haven't gotten the classe[s] they want)!

Boring...not a whole lot going on lately. Today was Veterans Day, so be thankful for all those Vets out there who fought for our country! I think that my fascination with watching war movies and Band of Brothers, not to mention READING the book (Band of Brothers, that is) have given me a greater appreciation of what Veterans actually did and what they had to endure. So treat them with respect!! They deserve it!

Umm...last night went home for dinner...mmm...then went over to the boys' apt and hung out for a bit. Today sleep...then went home to drop off a bit of laundry, had a little food, then splurged at Best Buy because, well...I haven't actually gotten anything for myself in a long time. Hehehe...then went to the little Starbucks in the Village with Jared and got my 2nd to last weekly paper (for SIS) done!! I was so happy. Then waited for Derek to walk his scrawny ass from McCarty down to the Village. Off to The Ram for some dinner, took Derek home, went to the boys' apt again (wow...2 nights in a row...I think it's a new record!) and did the usual hang out, and Jared and I watched Finding Nemo.

I know that I've seen the movie like 3, well 4 now, times in the past week, but whatever. I love it!! So that's about the extent of stuff going on so far. I think we might be doing something sometime for Sean's bday, and I think that we're gonna do something for Patrick and Jason's respective bdays this weekend. I think. Gotta get my ass in gear in terms of finishing the Rome app and figuring out exactly what my class schedule is gonna be for next quarter since I register on Friday!!! EEK!!! So that's about it for now. Have a good one. *muah*

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY SEAN!!!!

Sunday, November 09, 2003

So work was boring, as usual. Then went over to Kairu's with Candace and we made sheperd's pie and chocolate souffle, which didn't turn out the way it should have, but it was still quite edible!

Then Candace and I went to watch Love Actually which, I must say, is my feel good romantic comedy of the season. Most definately. It was so cute and I just got all warm and fuzzy inside! I don't care what the critics say, I thought it was great. I'll have to get that on DVD when it comes out too...damn! Too many things to buy!!! AAAAHHHHHHH....oh well. That was definately the highlight of my day and brought a smile to my face. So very very cute! Enough jabber outta me...will prolly finish up watching Finding Nemo and then go to bed. Have to work tomorrow, and I need to do 5 peer reviews. Not really looking forward to that...sigh.

Have a wonderful night everyone! Is it getting warmer outside, or is it just me? Take care all. The holidays are right around the corner!!! *MUAH*

|

Saturday, November 08, 2003

Well, today was total veg out day, which is so sweet! I haven't vegged out in SO LONG.

So I didn't really do anything until I went home to get my DVDs back, then went over to the boys' and watched The Matrix Reloaded with Derek, Jared, and Trent. Even though I haven't heard the best reviews about The Matrix Revolutions, I'm still excited to watch it.

Finished watching the movie, and now here I am, back at the apt and I'm about to start watching Finding Nemo!! I love this movie so much! So on to the movie and/or bonus features!! Have a wonderful night! *muah*

Ok, I must add that the menus are INCREDIBLE. If I'm this excited by the menus...my goodness....hehehe =D

Thursday, November 06, 2003

Ahh...hell is over and I couldn't be happier! Well, I could be, but that's not the point...really...whatever...

Yesterday was really boring...didn't really do anything. Class (big whoop), then finished my 1st draft for the SIS research paper, work...off to my aunt's house and packed up my things. Made myself a little dinner, and watched The West Wing. I'm getting quite disappointed with the show...it's just not up to par anymore. The whole mood of the show has gotten darker, and dialogue just isn't what it used to be. I want Sorkin, Schlamme, and Lowe back!! I still love the actors, but man...show needs to pick up or it's gonna lose even more of its fanbase.

Came back to the apt, cleaned up, seeing as how I haven't been here for like 2 weeks...eek! It was SO COLD in here! I had left the bathroom window cracked so I would get a continual flow of fresh air. Bad idea. It made my room a refrigerator. Not quite a freezer, mind you. =P So I cleaned up and turned the heat on for the first time. Much better. Whew!

Gotta go grocery shopping soon...prolly after I take a shower...bleh. Then, since it's DEREK'S BIRTHDAY, I think we're gonna get food and come back here to watch Band of Brothers: Crossroads, if I am correct. So it should be a nice relaxing time. Hehehe...I'll prolly be hitting up Starbucks later and will either get a peppermint mocha or an eggnog latte...I haven't tried the eggnog latte yet, so I'll prolly have that.

Alright, enough chatter outta me. Keep warm out there!!! *MUAH*

|

Wednesday, November 05, 2003

HELL IS FINALLY OVER.

I am so happy. Now I can rot my brain in peace! Until the next round in about a week or so...bleh.

|

Alright, another quick blog before I have to get back to work. Who's not gonna sleep tonight? It's me, it's me...BLEH.

So I've gotten my 2 weekly papers that I needed to do out of the way (THANK GOD) but now it's time to move onto the first draft of my SIS research paper...on Chinese Immigration to America in the 1800s, specifically focusing on San Francisco...I'm not excited. POO ON SCHOOL!

Well, at least the 2 weeks of hell are almost over.

Had my High Italian Renaissance Painting midterm today...I don't think I did so well...I'm scared...but I talked to a bunch of grad students who're also in the class and after talking to them, I feel better. Whew...though I'm still scared...

Then got some coffee (mmm...) at Parnassus and hung out with Tita and some other AH grad students in the graduate student lounge...that was sweet...never been inside before (duh)! It was cold though...but we sat and talked for like 3 hours and "researched" a bit of stuff online...she did hers for her Conservation class and I did some on JSTOR for SIS. Since I was supposed to meet Jared at 5pm (after he got off work) at Suzzallo, we walked on over and met him there. Tita went home, and I dragged the boy along to help me find resources for my paper. And I found them all and more! Sweeeeeet.

Went to Piecora's for some wonderful pizza, I got gas for my car, went to UVillage QFC (which I really hate at the moment because of all the renovation going on inside) and picked up a few items, then went to the little Starbucks and did some homework...meh.

After that, went back to the boys' apt, did work/hung out (mainly hung out) and now here I am. And I have to get back to that damn paper...here comes 4 pages of nonsense outta my ass! Let's see how it goes...have a wonderful night, and if you see me tomorrow, I'll either be in a really good mood or else I will so incredibly drained and exhausted I might not even recognize you....hehehe...*MUAH* =)

OH! And they finally have the peppermint mochas back at Starbucks!! WOOHOO!!!! ;)
And Josh updated his site with pics from the Webbs' 21 run! (I'm in a couple of them...and I just realized that I got tan....damn!) =P

P.S. Crabpeople...bwahahahaha.... =D

P.P.S. HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY PATRICK! Everyone's turning 21! ;)

|

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, the Husky football game today was SO FREAKIN' GOOD!!!!!!!!! Best game I've been to all year. But then again, that really isn't saying a whole lot...hehehe... ;) I must say that night games are the best by far. I basically slept all day, then went to Candace's apt to hang out for a bit, walked on over to Jared's, hung out, then Sean and Erin came back, and the 4 of us walked up to Padelford to do a little tailgating with Erin's fam. 'Twas wonderful...mmm...and Erin's mom made pumpkin pie, too! It was yummy.

Headed on over to the game ALL BUNDLED UP. Because it's damn cold outside! *shiver* I had a shirt underneath my turtleneck, then a sweatshirt, and my thick grey jacket that I always wear during the fall/winter. Plus gloves and a scarf and a beanie...although the beanie was itchy so it wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world to wear, but it's all good...it helped keep me warm. So my legs were basically the only extremities enduring the cold...I only had jeans on. Brr...but since the game was wonderfully fun, exciting, TOTALLY entertaining, and went quickly...I wasn't really cold! Or whatever...my brain's not functioning...and I think I've basically lost my voice. Oh well.

We won, we won!!! Oh the joy of winning...and Cody Pickett was out, to boot! It was wonderful! We were actually playing like a real team, and not a fake team! Paus better not transfer, is all I'm saying. Stupid Ducks, I'm so glad we beat them. Their band looked like green stormtroopers (oh yeah, Josh!), and they had these weird interpretive dance flag team thing going on. They were horrible. My goodness...oh, and sometime during the game, 2nd quarter, I think, someone blew up a blow-up doll with an Oregon sweatshirt on it...it got tossed around the student section quite a bit...I'm sure that thing had like 5 STDs on it by the time it deflated...bwahahaha...and when I saw it, I immediately said..."That's Ursula!" (Supertroopers reference...duh!). Hilarious.

Unfortunately, there were a bunch of drunk girls sitting a row behind us to the left...they were really annoying, but stayed in the same area, so only when you looked over did you say..."I hate drunk girls." But then one of them fell over, and Trent and the boys had to catch her and steady her...but she did almost push me over, as I was standing on the bench the entire game, since the people in front of me were doing so as well. And since I couldn't see over them standing on the ground, as I'm 5'4", I stood on the bench. And Josh was directly behind me, so it all worked out. Yay!!

And that's about it outta me. I'm tired, have to go to work in 9 1/2 hours, thus am heading off to bed. After Wednesday, I will be so happy. That's all. Night! *MUAH*
